Remember the most popular but much trolled Color’s show Sasural Simar Ka? Remember the character Simar from the show, who fought with all kinds of supernatural powers like ghost, Naagin, Daayan, Patali Devi (why on earth would someone be called Patali Devi), to protect her family. Well, this made me wonder why Dipika Kakar (who essayed the role of Simar) even chose to play this bizarre role in the first place. Here’s a good news, the show will finally end its run. All I want to tell the makers of the show – ‘Happy Realisation’. Better late than never, I am glad that you realised that what you were offering the audience in the name of content was utter rubbish.

Since the show is now going off air, a leading daily, who got in touch with Keerti, asked her about the show going off air. She said, “I have no idea about it and hence, I can’t comment on the news. Such rumours have been doing the rounds for quite some time and I won’t believe them until I am informed officially.”

With the virtual world being full of Sasural Simar Ka’ memes, Dipika made the best decision ever by quitting the show. Even the cast didn’t believe in the show and many were seen quitting. Despite this, the makers failed to realise that this is where they got to stop, but no, they found a replacement for the main lead and got Keerti Gaekwad Kelkar on board as Simar. I was wondering how did Keerti agree to play Simar on the show now. From the normal saas-bahu soap to a fantasy-sci fi-mythological family drama, the show is a complete madness.

The story of Sasural Simar Ka revolves around the lives of two sisters Roli and Simar, married into Bharadwaj household. The show was premiered in April 2011 and from a daily soap, it had turned into an Indian supernatural family drama. Of course, you know it as Dipika Kakar was ruling the social media when her character Simar turned into a fly. How did Sasural Simar Ka, with a plot where a woman turns into a fly to protect her family from evil, managed to be one of the country’s most-watched primetime soap operas? Hats off to the makers of the show.

Let’s hope that this Independence Day, we get independence from this show. Watch this space for more updates
