Mumbai, July 13: The first look of the film ‘Manjhi-the mountain man’ starring Nawzuddin Siddiqui in the lead role, was released today by Bombay Times. The film is a biopic on the life of Dashrath Manjhi, who is popularly known as ‘the mountain man’.
The film is based on the real life story of Dashrath Manjhi, who was a poor labourer in the extremely remote Gehlaur village of Gaya, Bihar. He is famous for having carved a path out of a mountain with only a hammer and a chisel- for love. Read: Aamir Khan disappoints Bihar’s Mountain Man’s family
The story of the man is one of indomitable spirit and immeasurable love. Manjhi’s wife Paghunia had died when she had slipped from the mountain on her way to get him food. Manjhi had been unable to get his wife medical help because the nearest doctor was 70 kms away and the path was extremely treacherous. Manjhi, beside himself with grief, decided to carve out a path through the mountain, so that no one would have to travel through the dangerous path again.
The film and concept is by director Ketan Mehta and the script has been written by Shahzad Ahmed and Rajbali Anjum. The music has been composed by Sandesh Shandilya. The film is set to be released on 21st August. Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui who is playing Dashrath Manjhi in the film, has described the role to be the most difficult role that he has played till now.
