The fourth song from our ongoing list of Ganesh Chaturthi melodies 2017 is the Maha Arati, ‘Gajanana’ from Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s magnum opus movie, Bajirao Mastani starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra in the lead. The tune, music and entire feel of the song are sure to transport you to the golden era of the Peshwas in Maharashtra. Peshwa Bajirao was an ardent devotee of Lord Ganesha and every year the palace used to be lit up for the massive festivities planned in reverence of the Elephant God.
The traditional Ganesh Arati has been given quite a dramatic spin by music composers Ajay Atul who have juxtaposed the powerful beats of dhol taasha with the reverberating voice of singer Sukhwinder Singh. Every time one listens to the song, one can almost instantly imagine a group of people dancing in complete synchronization with cymbals in their hands against the energetic beats of the percussions. This is a typical sight one comes across during the ten days of Ganesh Chaturthi when devotees come together to dance in unison to pay their respects to Bappa. The song was launched in the most dramatic way possible to best suit the grandeur it exudes with its music, beats and energy. True to his moniker ‘Master of Theatrics’, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, launched the song at Balewadi Stadium in Pune about two years ago, where over 5000 students formed the biggest human formation of Ganesha. This, in turn, found its way in the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest human formation of a deity. The tune is catchy, upbeat, devotional, all in one, and instantly appeals to everyone. Needless to say, it is one of the best Ganpati tracks you’ll come across. Don’t you think so? Let us know in the comments’ section below.
