The Salman Khan – Govinda starrer Partner was important for more reasons than just being a comedy flick. Through Salman Khan’s Casanova character, the film spoke of the art of love, and how relationships have their own tricks of the trade. And acknowledging that amidst the speculation of a sequel, Govinda wonders why the makers waited for over a decade to come up with a sequel to the film.
Govinda, who is celebrating his 54th birthday today, told Mumbai Mirror, “When I quit politics 10 years ago, I found Partner and neither the makers nor my fans have forgotten the film. I guess it’s because of the humour and the honesty which shines through. There is a lot of speculation but I haven’t been finalised for the sequel, I have to make that clear kyunki main jhoot nahi bolta.” He added saying, “I never understood why we had to wait a decade for a Partner sequel, I guess I love the franchise a little too much.” ALSO READ: Salman Khan And Govinda To Team Up For The Sequel Of Partner?
The sequel to Partner was actually considered earlier, however, the makers didn’t have a story good enough to go ahead with the plan. And the rumours of a fallout between Salman and Govinda were also ripe at that point. When the tabloid asked Govinda about working with Salman, the actor said, “Why will I not work with him? We don’t have any issues with each other.” The film will be helmed by Sohail Khan, who is in no hurry to rush with the project as he’s still working on the script. Sohail has registered two titles for the film, Partner 2, and Carry On Partner.
