Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi has been the centre of attention for one and all. Whether he’s swinging by the balcony of his house, or making a public outing, he is always snapped by the paps. He is so adorable that people just can’t get enough of him. With the Chote Nawab being subjected to so much attention, it’s only natural for the family to be worried about “buri nazzar” befalling on the little apple of their eye. Bollywood Life has reported that it’s because of their ‘this fear’ that they have tied black threads tied around his feet.

It seems that Kareena and the entire Kapoor clan paid a whooping sum of Rs 51,000 to the transgender community to bless baby Taimur, who is the youngest in the Kapoor family, after Riddhima Kapoor Sahni’s daughter, Samara. This tradition is in lieu with the belief that the transgender community, ie kinnar community is blessed by God to fend off the evil eye.

Paying the kinnar community to ward off the evil eye is a common tradition in most Indian families, and the Kapoor clan is no different. While many may feel that Rs 51,000 is a huge amount to give away, it’s Taimur Ali Khan after all,—the life of the Nawab family. No amount is that huge for them when it comes to the little munchkin. Saif and Kareena have always maintained that their little one will have a normal childhood, which explains why would they give into traditional customs to ensure the best for their bundle of joy.
