Gurmeet Choudhary and wife Debina Bonnerjee have been giving relationship goals to their fans with their crackling love story. The couple remained together and fought all the odds to ensure they have each other’s back. The two also got secretly married to ensure nothing rips them apart. After having a successful career on the small screen, Gurmeet tried his luck with films. His debut film Khamoshiyaan gained him a lot of prominence as a newcomer but he failed to bag good roles. His second film, Wajah Tum Ho, was also an erotic thriller and we saw Gurmeet more or less doing the same.
Now, as the actor is looking forward to the release of his family entertainer Laali Ki Shaadi Mein Laaddoo Deewana, hopes to have more doors open for him. The actor also adopted two girls, Pooja and Lata, recently and is now a father too. He adopted them from his hometown and is keen about his new phase in life. The telly star says, “I am a big fan of Superman; he has the power to do nice things for human beings. We can also do the same using our power as a celebrity. Debina and I were thinking of adopting a kid since a long time. It finally happened last year after we discussed it with our parents. We have planned everything for them very carefully. I think it’s just a start because people keep talking about women empowerment, but nobody takes any steps. I think I have done the right thing and hope people will follow it.”
But they are yet to come to Mumbai and Gurmeet is still pondering on this decision. Gurmeet speaking about the same says, “That will need planning as such decisions can’t be taken overnight. The girls come from a rural background, so bringing them here immediately will be a cultural shock for them. We are focussing on their education right now. We will do everything according to their comfort. We have not set a specific time frame because that will be put pressure on them. Similarly, there is no pressure on them to take my surname either.” (ALSO READ: Laali Ki Shaadi Mein Laaddoo Deewana: Gurmeet Choudhary opens about breaking away from his erotic image)
Gurmeet has a cool equation with his girls and adds, “They call us Gurmeet and Debina, so we are friends. In today’s time, the relationship between parents and kids should be that of friends. So, I don’t mind them addressing me by my name. Debina and I talk to them every day. My life has changed after adopting them. I have the responsibility of looking after them.” (ALSO READ: Gurmeet Choudhary and Debina Bonnerjee’s secret marriage pictures are going VIRAL for all the right reasons (See pictures)
So with the adoption in place is the couple not planning for a biological kid as of now? To which the Wajah Tum Ho actor says, “We haven’t thought about it because we are busy in our careers. We haven’t done any family planning and will take the step when we are ready.”
