After the release of two big films ‘Rustom’ and ‘Mohenjo Daro’ last week, it would have been a little tensed situation for the makers of ‘Happy Bhag Jayegi’ to fit into the space of a hit film and also in terms of box office collections. Mudassar Aziz directed flick ‘Happy Bhag Jayegi’ is one of the most awaited film of this year as with it two stars of Bollywood will make their comeback – Abhay Deol and Diana Penty. The movie produced by Anand L. Rai and Krishika Lulla has received positive response from critics in terms of entertainment. Abhay and Diana’s performances have been lauded by the critics and it has already been termed as a paisa vasool film. This romantic-comedy film also stars Jimmy Sheirgill, Ali Fazal, Pakistani actress Momal Sheikh and Mika Singh.

But now it looks like ‘Happy Bhag Jayegi’ will win many hearts with the lead stars performances and the kind of plot. Such healthy kind of family entertainer is hitting the silver screens after a long time. And watching Abhay Deol and Diana Penty in it would surely be a delight for Bollywood movie lovers. After watching the film in a special screening, here’s what the critics have to say about the plot, actors and performances of the film: (ALSO READ: Happy Bhag Jayegi trailer: Abhay Deol & Diana Penty’s vivacious avatar will leave you in splits)

Oye! Cinema: Despite the fact that the film’s screenplay is predictable, it’s the treatment that makes the film entertaining. The humour in the film is excellent and works magic in the first half. The second half however slows down due to multiple subplots and romantic angles, some of which seem quite forced.

Gulf News: Director Mudassar Aziz has to be given credit for not adding jingoistic overtones to this comedy that travels between India and its long-time rival Pakistan. While the first half is promising, the second half derails with unnecessary clichéd complications, which includes everyone turning up in the same town. Fortunately, the love angles were wrapped up in a sensible manner. There was no drama and that was a relief. This is no laugh riot, but ‘Happy Bhag Jayegi’ has its glorious moments.

Filmi Beat: The movie has all the elements to entertain the audiences such as romance, comedy, freedom, love, songs and to top it, it has the craziness peppered into it which no B-town film has showcased in a while. If fun is all you need at the end of the day, then ‘Happy Bhag Jayegi’ is a must watch for you. (ALSO READ: Remember Diana Penty from Cocktail? She’s back!)

Claps n Slaps: Diana Penty as Happy is nothing like the docile Meera from ‘Cocktail’. This time the girl makes sure that you can’t resist yourself from falling for her charming free-spirited ways. She exudes the right amount of spunkiness and adds a distinct flavour to the film. Abhay Deol is dashing and endearing and makes you fall in love with his character. ‘Happy Bhag Jayegi’ has a staple Bollywood plot but it’s Mudassar’s story-telling that gives it a fresh twist. He has based his film more on situational comedy and that works in his favour.
