Bollywood is spreading good cheer this Karva Chauth along with many other married Hindu couples. Some of the stars have taken to Twitter to tweet out messages in support of the women who are fasting or for their own spouses. While Karva Chauth involves mostly women fasting for the good fortune of their husbands, there are some men, however, who do it for their wives.
Actor Abhishek Bachchan had put out a tweet that he is fasting with his wife actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and actor Ayushmann Khurrana shared a heartwarming tweet about fasting for his wife, who is suffering from cancer. Check their tweets below:
Karva Chauth, which is a one-day festival of India, is celebrated by Hindu women for the safe and long life of their husbands. Married women keep a fast on this day from sunrise till moonrise. In traditional observance of the fast, women would apply henna on their hands and wear fine clothing and jewellery. It is considered a very special occasion for married couples, and at times the husband too would join the wife in fasting.
The women would break their fast after the husband offers her water, but not before they have viewed the moon through a sieve or its reflection in a vessel filled with water. Once she has had her sip of water from her husband, the woman can have a complete meal.
