Tollywood beauty Samantha Ruth Prabhu has been on good terms with Naga Chaitanya ever since she made her debut in Telugu cinema. He was her best friend and then became her soulmate and now the duo want to take their relationship a step further. Families of both the actors have given a nod for their alliance and the duo announced their engagement recently and now whole of the Tollywood is gearing up for the big fat wedding which is anticipated to take place in the coming year. Although this now has brought a big joy for the Samantha’s fans, the actress has seen a strange response from the industry. It comes as a shock that Samantha has seen a drop in movie offers ever since she announced her engagement.
Yes, you heard that right and according to Deccan Chronicle’s report, Samantha confessed of being shunned by the industry. She was quoted saying, “The day my marriage plans were announced, the offers dried up. Just like that! I was like… what happened? I am the same actress. I’ve given back-to-back hits throughout the year. My Tamil film 24 and my Telugu films A Aa and Janatha Garage were hits. So why am I suddenly being shunned?”
She further added, “Producers are now murmuring, ‘How can we work with her? She is Nagarjuna’s daughter-in-law.” On the other hand, Nagarjuna is more than happy to see his daughter-in-law working. In fact he has made it clear that Samantha will not give up her career in acting post marriage too. Samantha who is at the receiving end has become a victim of the stereotype of working with a married actress. “I just need to dispel the Telugu and Tamil cinema’s insecurities about married actresses. Even Naga Chaitanya was asked in a number of interviews about his to-be-wife’s career plans post marriage. The south star has always mentioned politely that its solely her choice and he has no say in that. Samantha also reveals, “In fact, Chaitanya has gone out of his way to let the world know that I intend to continue with my career. If still there are misgivings about my future plans, what can I say or do? Except, maybe wait for the marriage to happen and then prove how serious I am about my career.” While movie offers have stopped coming up, Samantha has seen a drop in endorsement offers too. Samantha was in talks with Ram Charan for his next Telugu venture but we hear that the actor has roped in Anupama Parmeshwaran instead. Did Ram Charan choose Anupama over Samantha just because she might get hitched by the end of this year? Currently, Samantha is working opposite Vishal in Irumbu Thirai. In this movie, Arya will play an antagonist and the first schedule is already wrapped. In addition, she has been signed for a Tamil film alongside Vijay Sethupathi.
