After the phenomenal success of Hindi Medium at the Box Office last year, the makers had reportedly decided to come up with the sequel of the film. The makers of the prequel, announced that Hindi Medium 2 will be bankrolled by T-Series and Maddock Films. And after Saket Chaudhary, Cocktail fame director Homi Adajania will be helming the film, according to reports. Irrfan Khan, who bagged the Best Actor Award for the film, has reportedly been roped in for the sequel as well, while there is still no confirmation about Pakistani actor, Saba Qamar, who played the actor’s wife in the first installment, to reappear in the sequel. However, there’s a buzz doing the rounds that Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh‘s daughter, Sara Ali Khan is being considered to play Irrfan Khan’s daughter in the story that is said to be taking a leap of 10 years in the film.
While nothing has been confirmed yet about Sara’s role in the film, there are factors that make us believe that the rumour is in fact true. With Sara’s debut film, Kedarnath now in tenterhooks, due to the ensuing legal battle between filmmaker, Abhishek Kapoor and producer Prernaa Arora’s KriArj Entertainment, Daddy Saif Ali Khan has come to the rescue of his daughter and is reportedly doing everything possible to ensure Sara bags a successful debut. Given Homi is very close to Saif and Kareena, (having directed Saif in his debut film, Being Cyrus, and in the popular film Cocktail ), there’s a huge possibility of Sara bagging the lead role in the film.
Meanwhile, the producers, Bhushan Kumar (of T Series) and Dinesh Vijan (of Maddock Films) are both elated on having Homi come on board. Bhushan was quoted by Deccan Chronicles as saying, “Having Homi on board as the director for ‘Hindi Medium 2’ is a blessing. I loved his black humour in his debut film ‘Being Cyrus’. He brings a distinct quirky quality to all the films he has directed so far. That certain mad quality he instils in his films is something I am sure ‘Hindi Medium 2’ will benefit from.” Likewise, Dinesh is of the opinion that with Homi on board, the film is in safe hands. “Homi doesn’t make films very often as he refuses to do stuff that doesn’t bowl him over. But when we narrated this one to him, he loved it. And when we saw his reaction, it was a no-brainer! Homi was the most unlikely choice for ‘Hindi Medium 2’ and that’s exactly why we have signed him on,” he said.
