Popular American comedian Tim Conway died in Los Angeles following a long illness. He was 85 and reportedly suffering from dementia. Conway’s daughter from his first wife Mary Anne Dalton, Kelly, confirmed to Fox News that her father is ‘at peace now’.
Conway was popular for his performance on The Carol Burnett Show in which he played several memorable characters like the Oldest Man and Mr Tudball. He was the winner of six Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award for his performance on the show.
The actor is survived by seven children from Mary Anne, two grandchildren and his second wife, Charlene, who married him in the year 1984.
Expressing her grief, his longtime friend and co-star, Carol Burnett, talked to Fox News and mentioned that she’s ‘heartbroken’. She said that Conway wasn’t just a terrific actor but also a ‘loving human being’ and they shared fabulous chemistry both on and off the screen.
Apart from his 11-year stint on The Carol Burnett Show, Conway is also known for his performance on other TV shows – Rango, Ace Crawford Private Eye and Tim Conway’s Funny America. He also lent his voice for the role of Barnacle Boy on SpongeBob SquarePants. Most of his performances were recognised by the critics and appreciated by the audience of three generations.
Conway’s film credits include They Went That Way and That Way, The Long Shot, The Shaggy D.A., Speed II, Dear God, The World’s Greatest Athlete, The Apple Dumpling and The Dumpling Gang Rides Again.
