Kangana Ranaut has been making headlines since more than two weeks now. Strangely, while she is up and about giving interviews to promote her September 15 release Simran, that’s something which is hardly being talked or written about.
The whole attention is on Kangana’s controversial past. Right from Aditya Pancholi, whom she first dated when she came to Mumbai to make a career in the movies, to Adhyayan Suman and all that he said about his relationship with her to Hrithik Roshan and how he lied, schemed and manipulated situations to defame her.
While all this has been making some really juicy headlines, her film, which should have been the start and end of all her conversations, has been lying ignored. What does it mean for her film Simran? Trade expert Akshaye Rathi dubs this entire episode as ‘unfortunate’. Talking to India.com, Rathi said, “The attention has been diverted away from the film and towards trivial issues. This has actually been a pattern for Kangana. Each time she is out there to promote her film, her controversial personal life, rather convoluted personal life becomes the focus.”
Instead of Simran, Kangana is talking about who ditched her, who she dated, who she’s marrying or not marrying
Rathi further was of the opinion that Kangana was being unfair to her film and her producer for promoting the film the way she is. “Kangana is certainly doing a disservice to her film and producer by doing what she is doing. The kind of coverage in the media doesn’t help your ticket season at all. There should be information about the film that she should talk about and aspects of Simran that will appeal to the audience. Instead of these, she is talking about who ditched her, who she dated, who she’s marrying or not marrying,” Rathi pointed out.
But Kangana has been able to keep the buzz around her alive since the past many weeks. And she became a trend today morning also as soon as her song The Bollywood Diva with All India Bakchod came out. Would this still not guarantee footfalls in the theatres for Simran? We ask Rathi.
“It’s a show. Controversial content makes headlines, garners eyeballs. Kangana has certainly been keeping to the demands of the media that thrives on sensationalism. But she is not catering to the audience by talking enough about Simran,” Rathi reasoned. Do you agree with what Rathi’s take on Kangana Ranaut’s promotions of Simran?
