Sujoy Ghosh’s film comes a week after Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt’s starrer movie ‘Dear Zindagi’ managed to earn Rs 47 crore in just one week. Due to Prime Minister’s latest police demonetization has badly affected the movies. Farhan Akhtar’s Rock On 2 and John and Sonakshi starrer movie Force 2 failed miserably at the box office. The movie was shoot in Kolkata, wand over the occupancy ranging between 40 to 50 per cent on day one, which is a good number.
It is expected that the movie will manage to collect between Rs 7-9 crore. “I don’t think demonetisation will affect my film. It’s all about priority so if people would really want to watch it, they will definitely go to theatres. It doesn’t matter if there is a currency problem in the country,” Sujoy Ghosh told media prior to the release of Kahaani 2. “There are difficult times and something is always going on in the country so I think we shouldn’t give it a much thought. Many people have appreciated the trailer so I hope they will go to the theatres,” Sujoy added.
