Kalasala Babu passed away last night at the Ernakulam Medical Trust Hospital following a cerebral haemorrhage. The actor was 68. Babu was undergoing treatment for a heart ailment for three months.
Kalasala first began his stint with theatre and then moved to TV before getting a break in films. Son of Kalamandalam Krishnan Nair and Mohiniyattam dancer Kalyanikutty Amma, the actor made his debut in Malayalam films with Inayethedi in 1977 by John Paul. The actor was known for his negative roles and was famous for realistically portraying complicated characters. The actor was last seen in Queen where he played the role of a judge.
In his filmi career, Kalasala Babu did over 50 films which include Runway with Dileep, Balettan with Mohanlal, Pokkiriraja with Mamootty and Prithviraj and Thuruppu Gulan with Mamootty. The actor is survived by wife Lalitha and two children.
