Its first season didn’t start on quite a good note and many even called it regressive. We’re talking about the infamous show, Pehredaar Piya Ki that faced a lot of slack for its unusual love story between an 18-year old girl and a 9-year-old boy. Right from the time the first episode was aired people slammed it for being backward and downright ridiculous. Some even signed petitions and shared memes on social media asking for its ban. The ministry was forced to ask Sony to change the timings of the show just after two weeks of its running. However, the channel decided to take it off air instead. And now its all set to be back with the second season. Yes , you heard just right. The show is all set to be back with a new face. And it’s none other than Shantanu Maheshwari.
BollywoodLife exclusively reported that Shantanu Maheshwari will be seen playing the role of Prince Ratan while Tejaswi Prakash will be essaying the role of Princess Diya as before. Shantanu who has done youth centric and reality based shows till now, will be doing the first family drama of his career. He is currently seen in Khatron Ke Khiladi Season 8 where he is a finalist and rumour has it that he’s the winner of this season. Originally from Kolkata, Shantanu came to Mumbai to pursue a career in the field of entertainment after a lot of struggle. The first show that came his way was ‘Dil Dosti Aur Dance’ on Channel V where he essayed the role of Swayam and his chemistry with Vrushika Mehta was much appreciated. Known for his impeccable dance skills, Shantanu went on to win the international dance show ‘World of Dance’ with his troop Desi Hoppers. This was later followed by his stint in Jhalak Dikhlaja where he was one of the finalists. Additionally, he appeared on an MTV show, Girls on Top.
It would be interesting to see Shantanu playing Tejaswi’s young teenage husband, though in reality they both are of the same age. He will be replacing the child actor, Afaan Khan on the show, who played Ratan in the first season. This will be the first time that the two actors will be working together. The second season will begin with a leap where it will be shown that Prince Ratan, who’s a grown up boy now, will return to Rajasthan after completing his education abroad. He will meet his wife on coming back to India but things will be different this time. The two actors are reportedly expected to leave for a 15-day long outdoor shoot in Bikaner this month. There are talks of a a famous TV actress joining the show in the days to come as Shantanu’s love interest. It would be interesting to see how the love triangle pans out in the days to come.
