The Kapil Sharma Show had gone off air after various controversies and Kapil’s ill health. After this, the comedian was in Bangalore for treatment. Reports also suggested that due to Kapil’s ill health, the comedian had taken a break from his TV show, while speculations were rife that health problems were just an excuse but the show had ended its run due to poor TRP ratings, while Kapil’s unprofessionalism, where he had been cancelling shoots with Bollywood stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor, among others, was just a strategy.
However, Kapil’s co-star Kiku Sharda, who is best known as ‘Santosh’ and ‘Bachcha Yadav’ in TKSS, has now come to his defence. In a statement to a leading publication, Kiku said, “There was no strategy and planning because the decision to take a break was taken very urgently. It wasn’t an organised break. If the shootings were getting cancelled at the last minute then no one could’ve planned it. The channel will not upset actors like Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn and send them off.” ALSO READ: (Priyank Sharma, Hina Khan, Dhinchak Pooja, Shilpa Shinde – Who Will Be Out Of Bigg Boss 11 This Week?)
Kiku further added, “After Ajay’s shooting got cancelled (he had gone to promote ‘Baadshaho’), we decided that why should Kapil continue and feel pressured. Kapil’s health is more important. Apart from shooting for his film on a daily basis, he had to keep a tab on his film’s production. He is also the producer of the show and so, he had to take care of the show as well. That can get too much to handle.”
Even earlier, when Sunil had quit TKSS, Ali Asgar and Chandan Prabhakar too followed his footsteps and joined hands with Kapil’s rival Krushna Abhishek. But only Kiku Sharda decided to stay back and help Kapil to increase the viewership of TKSS.
