As we learned from the trailer of Bareilly Ki Barfi, Bitti is a rebel. The bold, vibrant, chirpy girl is often termed as outspoken too. The small town girl with big dreams is not the ordinary Bareilly girl. Bitti does break dance, smokes cigarettes and sometimes even drinks alcohol. However, the small town girl that she’s portraying would invite a lot of judgement in real life. Concerning this, Kriti Sanon wants to break this stereotype in the nation where girls are judged too quickly.
While talking about the issue with a leading daily, Kriti shares, “Smoking is not good for health and should be avoided. I am a non-smoker, but the point we want to make is that girls who smoke, who are fond of body art or break into a jig are not characterless. Our society has a very small bracket for `good girls’. That bracket needs to broaden up or change. When a guy is moophat or smokes, he is not considered characterless, but you judge girls too fast. This is seen more in smaller towns. In an arranged marriage too, only a girl is asked all kinds of questions. I really want this to change.“
Bareilly Ki Barfi is a slice of life film with an unusual love triangle. The trailer of the film has got everyone hooked and the music of the film is winning hearts. Bareilly Ki Barfi brings to celluloid for the first time the team of Kriti Sanon, Ayushmann Khurrana, and Rajkummar Rao. The film is Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s second film as a director.
Bareilly Ki Barfi is scheduled to release on August 18, 2017.
