Kangana Ranaut is in Bikaner since a few days and she had been prepping for the new schedule of her film Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi. The actress has kickstarted the new schedule today and pictures of her shooting at the Junagarh Fort in the city in Rajasthan have been going viral and all for the right reasons. The actress looks every bit royal and fierce, just like the queen, whose story she aims to bring alive on the big screen.

Dressed in a wine red saree in a Maharashtrian style, complete with jewellery from back in the day, Kangana’s look will take you back in time and nudge at your already heightened curiosity for the film. What strikes us from these pictures is that the actress looks all set to one-up Deepika Padukone’s Rani Padmavati look from Padmaavat. While we went drooling over Deepika’s avatar, Kangana in Manikarnika might become cine buffs’ next obsession. Check out the pictures from the sets to know why we say that. Just recently, Kangana’s film had found itself in troubled waters with Brahmin Mahasabha protesting against it claiming that the makers from distorted history. Karni Sena too joined forces with the fringe group. However, the makers and Kangana cleared the air and they also went to the Karni Mata temple near Bikaner to seek blessings before kick-starting the new schedule. The protests were withdrawn, giving the filmmakers the much needed relief to complete their film in peace.

The film was initially slotted for an April release but since the shooting is still going on and it will need time in the post production stage, it is now being pushed to August. While there is no confirmation, rumour has it that it may release on the Independence Day weekend and clash with Akshay Kumar’s Gold. Interestingly, there is also buzz that Manikarnika will hit screens on August 3 and clash with Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra’s Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar instead. Till we wait for the official announcement, lets take a relook at Kangana’s avatar as Manikarnika.
