Even while speculations continue around the release date of Rajinikanth’s 2.0 and its clash with Aamir Khan’s Thugs Of Hindostan on Diwali 2018, there is new update coming in about his Kaala. The film, which is based on a Mumbai-based gangster, is set to release on April 27. Earlier, Mahesh Babu’s Bharath Ane Nenu, where he plays a chief minister, and Allu Arjun’s Naa Peru Surya, where he plays an Army guy, were also slated for the same date. Bot the film are much awaited in 2018, however, clashing with a Rajinikanth film wouldn’t have been feasible since most screens would have been booked for Thalaiva’s film.
Fortunately, good sense prevailed and the makers of Mahesh Babu and Allu Arjun’s film decided to release their films a week before and after Kaala. According to reports, there was a meeting on Thursday between the makers of these two Telugu films where it was decided that Bharath Ane Nenu, directed by Koratala Siva and Naa Peru Surya, helmed by Vakkantham Vamsi, will hit screens on April 20, while Naa Peru Surya will meet the audience in theatres on May 4.
Both the films are being filmed currently and will be wrapped between February end and March second week. If you may recall, Rajinikanth’s 2.0, which also stars Akshay Kumar, was earlier slotted for a April 27 release but since the film couldn’t make it to the screens on time due to the major VFX work that is still pending. There have been speculations that director Shankar and Lyca Productions are vying for an Independence Day 2018 or Diwali 2018 release for this sci-fi film.
