Mahesh Manjrekar is not only on TV, entering our homes through Bigg Boss Marathi, which he is hosting, but is also back doing what he loves the most – filmmaker. The director has signed on Vidyut Jammwal and Shruti Haasan for his next Hindi directorial. We hear the film is a gangster saga and will be produced by Vijay Gilani. The film went on floors today and the lead star Vidyut shared a picture of the mahurat shot on his Instagram page. The caption read, “New day, new beginnings. It’s Day 1 of my next film directed by #MaheshManjrekar! @shrutzhaasan.”

According to earlier reports, though a gangster film, the movie will be a highly stylised project. Vidyut will be seen playing an NRI businessman, who returns to Mumbai, only to find that nothing is like it used to be before he left. His world turns upside down and he is shattered. What creates more havoc in his life is the fact that his family is at war with the family of the woman he loves, played by Shruti. Now, this is not something new to Bollywood films. But we can trust Mahesh Manjrekar to give a unique treatment to an already told story and present something interesting. As of now, the film remains untitled and it is too soon to talk about the release date.
