Having performed decently at the Box Office, Mohit Suri-directorial Malang, starring actors Aditya Roy Kapur, Disha Patani, Kunal Kemmu and Anil Kapoor, has begun to dip. Climbing down the ticket windows, the action drama grossed a total of Rs 36.45 crore by the sixth day of its release.
Sharing the new figures on his social media handle, Indian film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh revealed, “#Malang maintains a firm grip on Day 6… Eyes a healthy score in Week 1… Much depends on its performance in Week 2, since it faces a new opponent [#LoveAajKal]… Fri 6.71 cr, Sat 8.89 cr, Sun 9.76 cr, Mon 4.04 cr, Tue 3.80 cr, Wed 3.25 cr. Total: ₹ 36.45 cr. #India biz. (sic).”
Both Aditya and Disha had to go through some rigorous training for the film. For a popular sequence, the two had to learn ATV Bike riding, water gliding and underwater breath-holding techniques. Their steamy underwater kiss remained one of the highlights of the film.
In the movie Malang, Elli AvrRam essays the role of Jessie or Jezebel, who peddles drugs and sells herself for a living. Elli plays the golden-hearted Swedish expat with grunge look including dreadlocks and tattoos.
In an interview with a leading news agency earlier, Elli had shared, “I was overjoyed when Mohit sir called me to audition for Jessie’s part in the film. I wanted this film so badly that I nailed it in my first audition. He was happy with my audition and wanted me to look absolutely different and stand out in the film. For me, it’s a very tricky character to play.”
Malang is a love story in the background of deceit, revenge and toxic tie-ups. The film also features Kunal Kemmu whose performance has been appreciated by many critics. The film has also been liked for its music. Many romantic tracks filmed on Aditya and Disha are currently running as chartbusters.
