Gearing up for this next much talked about film, actor Dhanush recently let the cat out of the bag as he announced on his Twitter handle about actress Manju Warrier being locked by the makers in Vetrimaaran‘s upcoming directorial, Asuran. Confirmed as the female lead, this movie will be the Malayalam actress’ debut in the Kollywood industry.

Excited about this rope in, Dhanush tweeted, “#asuran – update .. the evergreen Manju Warrier will be playing the female lead. Excited to share screen space and learn from this amazing talent.”

Asuran is reportedly based on a Tamil novel called Vetkai and the official first poster of the film featured Dhanush sporting a new hairdo, tobacco-smeared teeth, holy ash spread across his forehead, him wearing a black ensemble and flaunting a twirled moustache in it. This will be Dhanush’s next film after Maari 2 and fans can’t wait to see the fresh pairing of Dhanush and Manju. While Dhanush and Vetri Maaran are known for churning out blockbuster films namely Pollathavan, Aadukalam and the recently-released Vada Chennai, composer-actor GV Prakash recently announced that he too has been roped in to score tunes for the movie and is collaborating with Dhanush and Vetri Maaran for the fourth time.

While the shoot for Asuran is expected to start from January 26, the makers are tight-lipped about the film’s genre and cast. Dhanush had tweeted yesterday, “We will start filming #asuran from January 26th !! A Vetrimaaran film. Looking forward to yet another adventure” (sic).

Busy with multiple other projects, Dhanush is even gearing up for his second directorial, which also stars Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead role. Sharing the picture with Dhanush, Aditi had captioned it, “We put the winning in twinning… @dhanushkraja.”
