The makers of Arjun KapoorAnil Kapoor starrer Mubarakan today hosted a one-of-a-kind sangeet ceremony at The Grand Ballroom, JW Marriott in Juhu. Since we are going to witness a big fat wedding on July 28 in theatres, the makers of the film decided to bring us closer to reality by hosting a sangeet ceremony. The event is part of the Mubarakan promotions. The entire cast – Arjun Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Athiya Shetty, Ileana D’Cruz were present to welcome the audience to experience what a Grand Sangeet ceremony looks like.

This being the first time such an event has been hosted, the audience also got to watch a live performance by the cast of the film, giving them the Sangeet feels.

Besides the star cast, Amaal Mallik, who scored the music for the film, along with singer Armaan Malik, were present in the ceremony, treating the audience to their musical brilliance. Since the entire family was seen performing, Anees Bazmee, the director of the film, also had a surprise planned in the form a special video.

Meanwhile, Anil opened up about how the director played a major role in his career, he said, “If I’ve been in this industry for 17-18 years, it’s because of Anees saab. I’ve worked with great directors like Kasinathuni Viswanath, Subhash Ghai, Yash Chopra, among others. But if you ask who has boosted my career the most, I’ll have to admit, it’s Anees saab.”

Anil further added, “I’ve learnt a lot of writing, direction, sense of comedy from him. When I don’t understand a scene, I’d ask him to give me a demo of how it has to be done and I’d copy him, exactly the way he’d do it.”

In the grand event, Arjun decided to have an impromptu Q&A session with his Chacha Anil, which entertained the audience the most. While Arjun tried to put the actor in an odd place, it kind of back fired; Anil smartly answered all the questions and ended up putting Arjun in an awkward position.

Here’ what they asked each other.

Anil: What is the best thing you have inherited from our Kapoor genes that you are thankful for?

Arjun: Of course, the love for cinema, passion and the need to connect. No matter how many times you need us to be, we are at the neck and call of the audience. There has been a constant urge of entertaining people and making good films. There have been good films and bad films, but our family has never given up. I am very grateful to be a part of this family. That’s what I have learnt from my family.

Arjun: How many girlfriends did you have before marriage?

Anil: I started in school playing doctor-doctor. Doctor-doctor
k bahane, checking karta tha. Of all, the best has been Sunita. She was my girlfriend then, I loved her, married her and had children with her. Now, we’re married for 43 years.

Anil: Who’s your favourite cousin? Sonam, Harsh or Rhea?

Arjun: You’re my favourite cousin. My most favourite I would say.

Arjun: Who’s your favorite child?

Anil: Sonam!

Arjun: Mera bhi Sonam (Sonam’s my favourite too), since we went to the same school and I’m too protective of her.

Arjun: Who is the biggest influence in your life?

Anil: Raj Kapoor. He was a fantastic actor and a great director. His films have been entertaining, in all aspects. He’s a true Indian filmmaker, who believes in presenting the heroine so beautifully. Not only that, he also used to look after his heroines. His background scores are too good that you can always hum them. Honestly, he has always been the greatest entertainer in the Indian film industry.

Arjun: Who’s the most mastikhor (mischievious) among you brothers?

Anil: I was. Nobody got caught for their masti though. Boney used to hit me a lot, especially my back with his fists. But we share a great bond; we’re friends, brothers and our bond is hard to describe.
