There’s a lot of anticipation around Aamir Khan starrer Thugs of Hindostan, which is slated to release next year. It is supposed to be a period drama under the Yash Raj Films banner, starring Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh. While working on this film with such a celebrated star cast would have been an opportunity to die for , for any actor, latest reports indicate that a TV actress was first approached to play the part that Fatima is essaying in the film, but she refused it. Well, the actress in question is none other than Mrunal Thakur who rose to fame due to her stint in Kumkum Bhagya. Yes you read that right!
While earlier there were reports of the actress not bagging the role, emerging reports suggest that it was she who turned it down and not the other way round. Yes, according to a report in DNA After Hrs, Aamir Khan was mighty impressed with the actress’ act in Love Sonia. Upon seeing the film, Aamir reached out to the actress and sent her a message , expressing his desire to cast her in Thugs Of Hindostan. Even Yash Raj Films’ head, Aditya Chopra was interested in casting her and had even offered her a three-film deal. However, Mrunal apparently rejected it! Not just Thugs of Hindostan, Mrunal was also approached for Sultan. She had even auditioned for the Salman Khan starrer super hit, however, things didn’t work out then as well. But, it was then that Aditya Chopra was impressed by the actress and since then was very keen on casting her for one of YRF’s films in the future. A source had revealed to the leading daily how the number one choice was never Fatima Sana Shaikh but always Mrunal for the role. The actress was would have gone on to become the next Anushka Sharma or Parineeti Chopra but she let the opportunity to go by. While we don’t know the reason behind her rejecting the role, let’s hope something better comes along her way that will show if her decision to turn such a huge project down was the right decision or no!
