Each year, the In Memoriam section of the Academy Awards acts as a tribute to the film world’s veterans who are no more. At the recently concluded Oscar Awards 2018, Sridevi and Shashi Kapoor were remembered. Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder took to the stage for the In Memoriam segment. Apart from the Bollywood actors, Roger Moore, Jerry Lewis were also remembered during the same section of Oscars 2018. Soon after this, Vidya Balan took to Twitter and wrote, “The Oscars paid tribute to our beloved Sridevi…#YourLegacyLivesOn”

Eddie Vedder dressed in black, strummed a black guitar, as he crooned the late Tom Petty‘s Room At The Top during the 2018 Oscars In Memoriam. Sridevi, 54, passed away last week after drowning in a bathtub at a Dubai hotel while Shashi Kapoor passed away in December 2017 at the age of 79 after a long battle with kidney ailments. Both the Bollywood actors were cremated with state honours and were wrapped in a tricolour.

Recently, while recalling about Sridevi’s tragic death, husband Boney Kapoor said, “On 24th (February 24) morning, I spoke to her. When she told me, ‘Papa (that’s how she addressed Boney), I’m missing you’, I also told her that I was missing her a lot. But I didn’t tell her that I would be joining her in Dubai in the evening. Janhvi had seconded my idea of going to Dubai because she was scared, her mom, not used to being alone, would misplace her passport or some important document if she was alone.”
