Choosing to skip a host this time, the 91st Academy Awards has rolled out it’s red carpet and seen walking down into the Dolby Theatre so far, are Hollywood celebrities Emma Stone, Chadwick Boseman, Serena Williams, Melissa McCarthy, Amy Adams, Tina Fey, Helen Mirren, Jennifer Lopez and Rami Malek among other big names. The fans are waiting with bated breaths to know the winners of Oscars 2019 given, Alfonso Cuaron’s Roma and Yorgo Lanthimos’ The Favourite are leading the nominations with 10 each while Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper follow with eight nominations to their A Star is Born.

As we await the winners from the 24 categories, including Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Director, here’s looking at some of the stars taking over the red carpet at Oscars 2019.

Melissa McCarthy

Pairing her black summer palazzo pants with a white top and matching flowy cape, actress Melissa McCarthy just entered the Oscars 2019 with complete royalty. Resembling Daenerys Targaryen’s attire in the popular Game of Thrones series, Melissa looks no less than an empress consort with that movie-star glamour spurn to the dress.

Glenn Close

Talking of royalty, in walked the nominee for best actress, Glenn Close, dressed in a sparkling floor length golden coloured gown with its tail promising to sweep off the award and fans alike. Brushing off that perfect smile for the shutterbugs, Glenn looked refreshing as she entered the Dolby Theatre. The cape certainly seems to be the theme for the best actress league.

Amy Adams

In what is being speculated as a power-play, the Vice’s Amy Adams walked down the red carpet in a striking yet understated white column dress. This is a stark contrast to her 80s style power dressing in Vice where the fussy shoulder pads, big hair and classically expensive jewellery demanded immediate attention.

Chadwick Boseman

Arriving in a black jacket-dress dipped in metallic sequins, Black Panther’s Chadwick Boseman looked regal. Even with a thigh-length black silk scarf in lieu of a bowtie, the look spelled incredible and Chadwick shone out as staid.

Emma Stone

Setting a new fashion statement by opting for the colour rust, for this year’s red carpet, The Favourite’s Emma Stone donned a Louis Vuitton dress marred with elegant sequins work. The impressive hairdo gave a breezy feel to the look with make-up matching with the dressy spin.

Rami Malek

Nominated for his role as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody, Rami Malek walked on the red carpet looking dapper and unexpectedly classic in skinny trousers and sharp tailoring. Instead of going all out with his look, Rami opted for a style that will never get old.

Lady Gaga

Putting fashion police on immediate alert to take notice, Lady Gaga arrived wearing a relatively trad black gown by Alexander McQueen sporting a small caged crinoline, paired with black latex gloves. She completed her look with a 128.54 carats Tiffany yellow diamond, one of the largest in the world and apparently valued at $30 million. Audrey Herpburn reportedly wore it last in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
