Sony TV’s Pehredaar Piya Ki, one of the most talked about shows on television, premiered in July 2017. Ever since the show’s promo was aired, it has been receiving criticisms for its content. Earlier we had reported that the show will be aired at a later time slot as an official action had been taken against the controversial TV show. Reportedly, over one lakh people signed a petition on change.org urging Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani to ban the show.

Recent reports suggested that due to the ban, Pehredaar Piya Ki will take a leap as to make their marriage seem legal. While Diya will be30-year-old, Ratan will play a 21-year old. Now, the latest buzz is that the makers of Pehredaar Piya Ki have not introduced the leap post protests against the show, but it was pre-planned right from the beginning?

Yes, according to Pinkvilla, the reports that suggested the plot of the show is not being changed due to criticism. A source told the online entertainment portal, “The 12-year leap will take place as per the schedule in October. After 32 episodes, a leap was pre-planned right from the beginning. There is no such thing that the story was changed to put the criticism to rest.”

The source went on to say that the makers are hunting for an actor to essay the grown up Prince Ratan Singh; fresh and popular faces both will be considered for the role. The source further added, “Post leap, Ratan’s character will be shown returning from foreign after completing his studies.”

Pehredaar Piya Ki creeped its viewers out with its content where 10-year-old Ratan (essayed by Afaan Khan) is seen falling in love with his keeper Diya essayed by Tejaswi Thakkar (an 18-year-old adolescent) and marries her on the show. People felt that it promoted child marriage and wanted it to be banned. So, action was taken and now the show is shifted to a new time slot – it airs at 10.30 pm.
