Not every TV show can be a hit, right? Some are just awful regardless of who’s involved. Be it A-List stars, directors or producers, there are still some shows that won’t shine bright and receive low TRP ratings. Today, I am going to list down a few shows which desperately need to go off-air. Pehredaar Piya Ki has to be the number 1 on my list of shows that we wish to get independence from. Could you agree more?
Pehredaar Piya Ki
Pehredaar Piya Ki is one of the most talked about shows on television. In this show, which was premiered in July 2017 on Sony TV, we see a 10-year-old falling in love with his keeper (an 18-year-old adolescent) and marries her. Apparently, the woman is married to this kid, in order to protect him? But why? Why does a woman have to get married to a boy half her age to protect him? Could it sound any less ridiculous and illogical?
Have you ever wondered how did Affan Jameel Khan’s (who essays the role of Ratan – the male lead) parents allow him to act on such a disgusting show? What’s more surprising is that this show also has an audience who is interested to watch the romance between a woman and boy, who’s half his age. When I watched the first episode (had no choice, it’s a part of my job), I was not surprised at all; it was just as ridiculous as expected. Must say, the makers certainly lived up to our expectations.
A boy is fascinated by a woman, who is as old as his elder sister; he follows her and secretly clicks pictures of her. If you did not notice, the makers just made ‘stalking’ seem right just like Bollywood films. No wonder, within few months of its airing, viewers have demanded a ban on the show. Not only that, they have started a campaign for the same. Well, I saw this coming, didn’t you?
SSorry, but Beyhadh is second in my list. To be honest, the first season was pretty good and it did kept us hooked to its high intense drama. But later, it was being dragged for no good reason. I believe, the show will have to end, as most of the cast on the show is already dead. Well, Maya’s (essayed by Jennifer Winget) character, is similar to Arya Stark’s character from American’s popular TV series – Game of Thrones, who also has a list of people to be killed. But the only difference is that Arya has a valid reason to kill people, unlike Maya. Reportedly, the makers themselves do not wish to stretch the show and ruin it for its fans.
Sasural Simar Ka
From a daily soap, the show, ‘Sasural Simar Ka’ (which was premiered in April 2011 on Colors), has now turned into an Indian supernatural family drama. The story revolves around the lives of two sisters Roli and Simar, married into Bharadwaj household. Recently, Dipika Kakkar (who essays the role of Simar) was ruling the social media, when her character Simar turned into a fly. Tell me, who on earth turns into a fly and the show yet manages to be one of the country’s most-watched primetime soap operas. Hats off! No wonder, the virtual world is full of memes.
While the makers had the character Simar to defeat all the supernatural powers like ghost, Naagin, Daayan, Patali Devi (why on earth would someone be called Patali Devi), to name a few, it made me wonder why Dipika Kakar even chose to play this bizarre role in the first place. Don’t you think? From the normal saas-bahu soap to a fantasy-sci fi-mythological family drama, the show is a complete madness.
Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki
This show totally deserves to be one in my list. This show, which premiered in June 2016 on Colors, after a long span, reveals the secret behind Soumya’s (essayed by Rubina Dilaik) identity that she actually is a Kinnar (eunuch). This is nothing but hilarious. Could you please explain how could she be a eunuch and not know about it all these years? There’s sheer lack of logic behind the premise and I give thumbs down for this show; it is such a fail. Also, if Kinnars are to be that hot with such sharp features, I believe, everyone would happily prefer a eunuch over a girl.
Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai
Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is one of the longest running show on television. It was premiered in January 2009 on Star Plus. I think it should end its run before people, from loving the show, starts hating it (which is already the case). The show began with the love story of Akshara and Naitik, which was loved by its audience, but now it’s the other way round.
From Akshara and Naitik’s wedding to their children’s wedding, the show has become too boring. While the lead couple is exchanging wedding vows perhaps for the 20th time on the show yet none of the characters’ (who have now become parents and grandparents to teenaged children) appearances have changed even tad bit since the first episode. This ever so boring show needs to stop and give a much-needed and much-deserved break to its audience.
