Captain Jack Sparrow is back and how! The new Super Bowl trailer for the fifth part of the Pirates of Caribbean franchise is no less grand than its previous installments. Barbosa (Geoffrey Rush) of the Black Pearl searching for his eternal arch nemesis and Salazar (by Javier Bardem) on the prowl with his horde of undead zombies, who run on water, for the blood of “the Captain of the sea” is a new level of war at sea. Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) will have to fend off the dead Captain Salazar to live another day at the high seas. For that, he will have to find the legendary Trident of Poseidon.

The extended look that is led on by Johnny Cash’s country song ‘Ain’t no grave’ sees Captain Jack Sparrow return, who is being hunted down by an army of ‘undead sailors’. Leading this skeleton army is Jack’s new foe Captain Salazar, a ghost pirate. Amidst all the action, drama and bloodshed in the seas, fans also get a peek of a much older William Turner (Orlando Bloom), with his face covered in corals and sea creatures as he takes command as captain of the Flying Dutchman. Another familiar face returning to the Pirates franchise is Geoffrey Rush, essaying the role of Captain Barbossa.

We see Johnny Depp playing Captain Jack Sparrow in the last few seconds, filled with muck and the usual dose of his nonchalant wit and a bottle of rum in his hand. The fifth movie in the franchise has new entrants Kaya Scodelario and Brenton Thwaites. The film is being helmed by co-directors Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg. The biggest addition to the star cast of the film is Paul McCartney, whose role isn’t specified yet.

There are rumours about Keira Knightley’s Elizabeth Swann making a cameo but there has been no sign of Penelope Cruz’s Angelica. The film’s casting also includes Sir Paul McCartney. Directed by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg, the movie is expected to release on May 26, 2017.
