Prabhas and Rana Dagubatti’s Baahubali 2 hit screens in China over the weekend. There were a lot of expectations from this action film, especially because the film did so well in India when it released last year and because of the recent records created by Indian films in China. Surprisingly, Baahubali 2 has failed to live upto those expectations. In the opening weekend, Baahubali 2 earned Rs 51.12 crore at the China box office. The film has failed to beat the opening weekend records created by Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Aamir Khan’s Dangal.
Trade analyst, Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to update the opening weekend figures of the magnum opus. He wrote, “#Baahubali2 is UNDERWHELMING in CHINA… The opening weekend numbers are not in sync with the merits of this TRENDSETTER… Fri $ 2.43 mn Sat $ 2.94 mn Sun $ 2.26 mn Total: $ 7.63 mn [₹ 51.20 cr]”. Baahubali 2’s run in China may get affected because of Avengers: Infinity War that releases there this weekend. Marvel’s latest offering has a good number of screens and has been doing exceptionally well worldwide. Taran Adarsh had tweeted about this yesterday. He wrote, ” #Baahubali2 sees minimal growth on Day 2 in CHINA… Has one week to score, since #AvengersInfinityWar [next week] is expected to dominate market share. Fri $ 2.43 mn Shows: 51,494 Footfalls: 484,276; Sat $ 2.94 mn, Shows: 46,413 Footfalls: 592,841 Total: $ 5.37 mn [₹ 35.89 cr] ”
Baahubali 2 starring Prabhas, Rana Dagubatti, Anushka Shetty, Tamannah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj and Nassar in main roles released in India in April 2017. The film shattered several box office in India. It is one of the highest grossing Indian films. So far the film has already earned over Rs 1500 crore.
