Salman Khan who plays Prem Dilwale is a doppelganger of Yuvraj Vijay Singh. Prem is in love with Maharani Maithili of Pritampur (Sonam Kapoor) who helps the needy and is a kind-hearted lady. But Vijay Singh and Maithili are about to get hitched. Ajay’s younger brother (played by Neil Nitin Mukesh) is envious of him and therefore plans on killing him.
However, Vijay Singh manages to survive the attack. He is rescued and is being taken care of by Diwan (Anupam Kher), who is one of their most loyal servants. While Yuvraj Ajay Singh is being secretly treated, Diwan manages to convince Prem to take charge of the throne. Maithili meets Prem who she assumes to be Yuvraj Vijay Singh and eventually falls in love with him. Prem and Vijay lead very different lives and are poles apart. However Salman does complete justice to the characters and fits perfectly in them. The larger than life sets, beautiful costumes, and extravagantly brilliant art direction makes Prem Ratan Dhan Payo visually appealing.
Through PRDP, Sooraj Barjatya has once again laid emphasis on family values and spreading love. There is romance, drama coupled with some action sequences towards the end make this movie a wholesome entertainer. All in all, PRDP is a perfect treat for the families this festive season.
