Priyanka Chopra who is now a global icon found herself amidst controversy when she spoke about Sikkim. The actress recently produced Pahuna: The Little Visitors which was screened at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival. While talking about the film’s theme, she said, “This is a film about two kids and their perspective on the refugee crisis on being moved from one place to another without understanding the reason.”

PeeCee while talking about her Sikkim said, “Sikkim is a small state in the North-east of India which never had a film industry or anyone who made a film from the region. This is the first film ever that’s come out of that region, because it’s very troubled with insurgency and troubling situations.”

This comment by Ms Chopra did not go down to well with people and she was trolled on social media for it. After getting severe backlash for her comment, Priyanka Chopra has apologised for her comments according to reports in India Today. Ugen Gyatso, the tourism minister of Sikkim, told India Today Television, “Her mother spoke to me over phone and has apologised for the comment.”

Well, we hope things cool down after the Baywatch actress’s apology.
