Priyanka Chopra‘s Baywatch is currently screening in Indian theatres. Being her Hollywood debut film it has been attracting a lot of attention from her native fraternity and has excited her fans who await what’s next in her Hollywood dream. But the woman herself remains unfazed from all the expectations piling up from her first starrer in the West.
In an interview with a leading daily, she expressed how she’s feeling now that her much awaited Hollywood debut film has released in the theatres. She said, “I don’t expect my first film in Hollywood to catapult me into becoming the biggest star in the country.”
While she admitted that there is still a long way to go, she was happy about being able to break a few stereotypes. PeeCee said, “So many times, I have been told (in the West) that I am too Indian for a mainstream part. I don’t know what that means. The actress has been at the epitome of her career since her current stint in the West. She starred in a lead role in TV series Quantico which aired for two seasons and has the third planned. With her Hollywood debut film Baywatch alongside the likes of Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron she has appeared in a number of famed talk shows and on prestigious red carpets. She rocked it all with her flamboyant personality and charm.
“I am glad that I have been able to make a dent, it encourages people to not look at South Asians through a singular prism. Hopefully, people will not see us as exotic princesses now,” said she after a brief reflection on her achievements so far.
Baywatch is about a devout lifeguard (Dwayne Johnson) who hires a brash new recruit (Zac Efron). Together they must put their differences aside to save the day from those who threaten the future of the bay. PeeCee stars in a negative role in the film.
