It’s often heard that the Bollywood superstars have kept themselves away from social causes. Here’s a list of prominent celebrities who have come forward in a way of organ donation.
Big B has taken a lot of social initiatives and this organ donation comes as another feather on his cap. It’s often said that charity begins from home, and the angry young man of Bollywood has set an example for many by donating his eyes.
The Desi Girl says, “I know the value of organ donation as my father at one point was deeply in need of one,” she adds “I, hereby pledge to donate my organs. If we cannot live as good human beings, we can be nice at least after death.”
The yesteryears actress and Member of Parliament, who mesmerised the Indian cinema with her expressive eyes, have decided to donate her eyes after death. It’s a nice move of taking the social cause forward, Jaya Ji !
The talented south actor has also decided to donate his organs after death. Madhavan has pledged to donate his eyes, heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, pancreas, bones and cartilages so that he can save the lives of others.
The pretty actress has pledged to donate all her organs. She believes that saving someone’s life is the best death ever! She says, “I have always wanted to donate my organs. When we are dead and gone, if our organs could save anyone’s life, then why wouldn’t we do it.”

The Mr. Perfectionist says, “Kiran and I have discussed it, but we never discussed it seriously till she saw “Ship Of Theseus. When I die, I would like Kiran to be able to just call up a number to execute my wish of harvesting my organs. I will donate everything possible to donate, which is typically your eyes, kidneys, liver, heart and even your lungs.”
Sallu bhai has also joined the bandwagon of taking this social initiative forward. He has urged people to donate their bone marrow. “It’s simple to donate bone marrow. You don’t have to spend money for it. I think everybody should go and donate bone marrow,” said Khan.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
There is no doubt that the former Miss World, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, has the most beautiful eyes. She has already signed up with Eye Bank Association of India to donate her eyes. She is surely a personality who will inspire youngsters.
The filmmaker-choreographer says, “I always had organ donation on my mind and wanted to start with my eyes.” Farah Khan has pledged to donate her eyes as well as her organs for those who may need them.
Another 90’s Bollywood star, who has been off limelight in recent days, has pledged to donate his eyes too. He says, “Our religious beliefs go against organ donation. We can save thousands of lives by changing our attitudes.”
“Two eyes donated can light up the lives of two or even four blind people. It is a wonderful feeling to be part of the cause,” said Rani Mukherjee after announcing that she’ll donate her eyes after death.
It’s not just people from Bollywood people, who have taken steps to take social cause of ‘Organ Donation’ forward, certain sports persons have also come forward..
The former Indian cricketer has pledged to donate his eyes after death. He pointed out that there have been instances of family members who had denied donating organs of the dead donors, who’d earlier signed for the same.

A cricketer by profession and an overwhelming humorous personality have also pledged to donate all his organs after his death. Thoko Taaali!!
“Donating organs is a great cause. I appeal to the celebrities and people that they should take initiative in donating their body organs,” says Vinod Kambli. Often amid controversies, he has already pledged his body organs to the Narmada Kidney Foundation.
Presently out-of-form cricketer, Gambhir has pledged to donate his organs after death. He says, “I am pledging to donate all my organs after my death and would appeal to everyone to do so, including my teammates.”
Bishan Singh Bedi and Kapil Dev are other cricketers who have pledged to donate their organs.
