Ajay Devgn and Ileana D’Cruz starrer Raid enjoyed a great opening weekend and has managed to remain rock-steady in the weekdays at the ticket window. Raj Kumar Gupta’s film period crime thriller is going strong at the Box Office and has turned out to be the fourth-highest grosser of the year after Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone’s Padmaavat, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and Akshay Kumar starrer Pad Man. Ajay Devgn’s latest outing has raked in Rs 58.39 crore.
While earlier it was easy to attract the audience through masala filled cinema, now the content has become the crux and the success is a proof that Indian audiences are hungry for issue-based movies. According to Film Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh, Ajay Devgn’s film managed to earn Rs 5.36 crore on Wednesday, thus, taking its total collection to Rs 58.39 crore in just sixdays. Earlier today, Taran Adarsh took to his micro-blogging site to share the official collection of the film. He wrote, “#Raid maintains a STRONG GRIP… Fri 10.04 cr, Sat 13.86 cr, Sun 17.11 cr, Mon 6.26 cr, Tue 5.76 cr, Wed 5.36 cr. Total: ₹ 58.39 cr. Written by Ritesh Shah and helmed by Raj Kumar Gupta, the film, that also stars Saurabh Shukla in a pivotal role, is inspired by the real-life I-T raids that were conducted by the officers of the Indian Revenue Service in the 1980s. The film is bankrolled by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak, while the music for the film is scored by Amit Trivedi, Tanishk Bagchi. Bollywood Life’s film critic Ankita Chaurasia had mentioned in her review, “Raid keeps you riveted throughout.
