After announcing that he will forego his birthday celebrations this year on December 12 in the wake of the devastating Chennai rains, south megastar Rajinikanth has now donated Rs 10 crore towards flood relief for his beloved city, as reported by Hindustan Times. These funds will go into the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund. Earlier in the week, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan also donated Rs 1 crore to the same fun for flood relief. This money has gone from the account of his company Red Chillies Entertainments.
As for Rajinikanth, we don’t know whether these funds for charity will go from his personal account or not, but he upped his amount after being criticised six days ago for merely donating Rs 10 lakh to the fund through his Sri Raghavendra Public Charitable Trust. Surely, the city that made the man a superstar from his humble beginnings deserves more love from the star! This is what his fans felt as well, say reports.
Several celebrities and actors have come forward to contributing to Chennai’s reconstruction after the worst floods in years. Mahesh Babu and Junior NTR donated Rs 10 lakh each, while brothers Suriya and Karthi have donated Rs 25 lakh each. Allu Arjun has contributed Rs 25 lakh as well.
Siddharth, who shared pictures of his home to show the level of flooding in Chennai due to the rains, has helped in rescue and relief operations. Rana Daggubati has participated in relief in a big way by making food supplies available to Chennai flood victims. The actor has been tweeting flood relief details on a daily basis.
Rajinikanth’s son-in-law, actor Dhanush donated Rs 5 lakh towards Chennai flood relief, and he has also been tweeting and contributing food and supplies and providing for doctors and a medical team.
Kudos to these south stars for showing so much support to Chennai!
