Almost a month ago, Ranbir Kapoor and Mahira Khan’s pictures took the internet by storm. The two were spotted in the New York City. There were too many questions being raised. But those pictures really did not go down well with many social media buffs. Mahira Khan was trolled for wearing short backless dress and smoking with Ranbir Kapoor. She was slut-shamed and seeing it, there were many industry members who came in support of her and one among them was Ali Zafar. Yes, Ali had raised his voice in support of the Pakistani actress.

Ali Zafar posted a picture that read, “What has happened to us? Have we lost all sense of sensibility? Must we choose gossip, intrigue and the self-appointed right of judgement over restrain, grace, tolerance and compassion? Every woman has the right to make her own choices in life (as long as she is not hurting anyone else) just like we men do. How we react defines our own character. Choose wisely, for we SHALL be judged!” And now in an interview with Gulf News, Ali has explained why took stance for Mahira Khan. Ali Zafar was quoted saying as, “For so long in this part of the world we have suppressed women in general — especially us men who think that we are superior and women are our slaves. We feel we can do whatever we want them. We own them.” He also said, “Ultimately, it’s her life. I do understand that when being in the limelight one needs to be more careful about various things. But at the end of the day we are all human. We all make mistakes and we need to be more compassionate and forgiving towards one another.” Don’t you agree with what Ali Zafar said?
