From the beginning of 2018, Bollywood films lined up to release this year are getting pushed to a later date for some reason or the other. And now the latest film to get postponed is Rani Mukerji‘s comeback film, Hichki. With this film, the Bong beauty was returning to films after the birth of her daughter Adira, who is now 2-years-old. The film was slated to release on February 23. However, reports indicate that it will now hit screens on March 23, exactly a month later. Those in the know of the film have said that the actress has given a phenomenal performance, which will definitely evoke positive reactions from the audiences. It seems that the internal YRF team has managed to convince Aditya Chopra to release the film post exams in order to give it the wider reach that it deserves. Given that it is a heartwarming story of a teacher and her struggles to connect with her children, many believe that will strike a chord with the audiences belonging to different age groups.

The private screenings of Hichki has seen a unanimous positive reaction from the audiences, which led the think tank to believe that it is one of the finest films made by the production house that needs to reach out to a wider audience. Aditya Chopra was thus approached by the marketing and distribution teams of the film to convince him that a film with such a high content requires a release window, which could attract larger audiences. Thus after a lot of thought, everyone associated with the film came to a consensus that it should release on March 23. When Maneesh Sharma, the producer of the film was approached about the same, he was quoted as saying by a leading entertainment portal, “The multiple screenings of Hichki saw outstanding reactions. The audience in attendance have called it one of the best content driven & heartwarming movies to ever come out of YRF. So naturally, the reaction of the team is that does Hichki currently have the best release date to get an extended run in cinemas across India.” He further added, “Hichki is an out and out family movie that will entertain audiences across all age groups. The YRF team decided that 23 March, 2018 is the best release date for Hichki especially given the post exam scenario for students and families – the most relevant TG for this film.”

In the film, the actress is essaying the role of Naina Mathur who has a nervous system disorder, Tourette Syndrome.  Talking about Hichki earlier, Rani told a leading daily, “When the script came to me, I wasn’t thinking about getting back to work.  I really liked the script and said, ‘Okay, we can go ahead with it.’ It was a process that happened organically. Then it hit me, ‘I have to leave my daughter and go to work.’ My husband feels if he hadn’t have pushed me, I wouldn’t have come back. I would be very happy being with Adira whole day long. And that’s true. I am most content when I am with my daughter. Right now, she is taking her afternoon nap, so I am comfortable. The minute she wakes up, I will be like, ‘Okay, time to go.’’
