Earlier it was reported that the sequel for Phobia 2 has been announced. The previous installment starred Badlapur (2015) actress Radhika Apte, where she played the role of Mehak, who suffers from agoraphobia (fear of open spaces) in the film. However, this time around the protagonist of the film will be a male actor.

The new lead of the Phobia series will be Nawazuddin Siddiqui and his phobia in the movie will be aviophobia (the fear of flying). The film’s producer, Viki Rajani when speaking Mumbai Mirror, explained Nawazuddin’s reaction when they approached him with the script: “After Nawaz had wrapped up Munna Michael, we met at his residence and jammed on this script. He immediately gave his nod. Phobia will always have a high-calibre actor as performance is paramount. Nawaz suits this character perfectly” said Rajani. Viki also shared that the film will begin with Nawaz boarding a plane, and the entire film will be shot inside the plane itself. “We will begin work on a set once we lock the dates,” says Viki. He also shared that after Nawaz finishes Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan’s sci-fi space adventure ‘Chanda Mama Door Ke’ in which he plays an astronaut, they’ll begin the shoot for Phobia 2, which will be either in October or directly in February “He will start prepping for our film closer to the shoot,” concluded Viki.

When asked about Nawaz’s own fears, Viki joked saying “He has phobia for bad scripts.” An apt answer, don’t you think?
