It is no secret that Sachin’s accomplishments on the oval field are a stuff of legends. And it is no surprise that Sachin’s own docudrama is booming at the box office. Sachin: A Billion Dreams, which was also released in Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, and English, has been an absolute sellout in three days of release. Numbers have only been spiking upwards since Friday when it raked Rs. 8.40 cr. Saturday brought in Rs. 9.20 cr and Sunday earned it a total of Rs. 10.25 cr by itself, bringing the total up to a whopping Rs. 27.85 cr.

Recalling how docudramas have performed in the box office in India in the past, these numbers are a good omen for what is coming, for the makers are in for a roaring response from the audience. Sachin’s biopic releases at a good time with no major film clashing its release, it will have a good amount of audience to itself, fans or not. Plus, the movie has been receiving rave reviews everywhere as previously Primetime Emmy award nominee for Outstanding Non-fiction category, James Erskine proves his class.

The film is based on the life of Sachin Tendulkar, where he has played himself. The film manages to bring a lot of emotions while taking us on a trip down the memory lane about the blockbuster innings Sachin played during his cricketing career, with the usage of real footage as well.

Written and directed by James Erskine and produced by Ravi Bhagchandka and Carnival Motion Pictures under 200 Not Out Productions, this far Sachin’s biopic has hit a real sixer at the box office.
