Yash Raj Films (YRF) has released a full-fledged ‘documentary’ on one of their most loved movie characters, Sultan. The wrestler-cum-MMA fighter was played very convincingly by superstar Salman Khan, and has broken worldwide box office records of some films. Till date, Sultan is running in theatres and has crossed more than Rs 500 crore at the worldwide box office.
To cash in on that, YRF first released two songs from Sultan on YouTube after the movie’s release, called Tuk Tuk and Sachi Muchi. These numbers are there in the film and have not been added afresh, but for fans, it was great to relive Sultan in the videos. And especially those fans who won’t watch Sultan in the theatre again.
Going a step further in their strategy, the Aditya Chopra-headed YRF has released a fictional documentary on the character of Sultan. It is a unique concept, showing Sultan and Aarfa (Anushka Sharma) as real wrestlers who have brought home medals from the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, etc. It’s a full-fledged documentary just like a real one, with stories from Sultan’s village in Haryana to interviews of the villagers.
“He wasn’t just a wrestler but a fighter and an inspiration for many. Get an insider view of Sultan’s life & know more about his journey, an experience of a lifetime,” says the intro of World of Sultan. Check out the full documentary here! We know Salman Khan fans will lap it up.
Meanwhile, the film’s trailer has crossed 30 million views on YouTube and has created a record. Sultan is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and released worldwide on July 6, 2016, ahead of Eid. Take a look at the Sultan trailer below this video!
