Mumbai, October 26: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan‘s bodyguard Shera has reportedly been booked for assault. A first information report or FIR has been filed against Shera but details about the alleged assault are not yet clear. The actor’s bodyguard, who has been with him for a long time now and is like his shadow, is known to fiercely protect the star. Salman Khan has been shooting for Tubelight in Manali and also for the reality show Bigg Boss 10 in Lonavala near Mumbai. The Mumbai police have not yet revealed the cause of the assault charge on his bodyguard Shera, even as his statement is being recorded at the DN Nagar police station in Andheri west, Mumbai. As of now, only a news flash on Times Now is updating the news and we shall know the whole story soon. Apparently, Shera has said that he only he had a verbal argument and there was no assault as such.

A website reports that in the wee hours on October 26, around 1.50 am, Shera was passing by Indian Oil Nagar on Andheri Link Road when he stopped his car to talk to the complainant  Akhtar Qureshi, who is his friend. The two ended up having a heated argument and Shera allegedly hit him with a baton and the butt of his pistol. Shera finally spoke to Times Now, where he denied the allegations. He said, “Nothing happened on Tuesday. I went to meet a friend at Kokilaben Hospital, then I went to Pop Tate’s where I had a verbal argument on the phone, but no physical scuffle. The police came to my house in the morning and now I am accompanying them to the DN Nagar Police Station. I don’t know the details of the charges against me.”

Salman Khan himself had been fighting court cases for several years, one for his Chinkara poaching case, the other under the Arms Act and related to the poaching case in the Jodhpur Court, and then his infamous 2002 hit-and-run case where he allegedly mowed down pavement dwellers outside Bandra’s American Bakery in Bandra, Mumbai. One pavement dweller died while the others were injured, but it was eventually ‘proved’ that Salman Khan was not driving the sports utility vehicle although he was drunk.

Salman Khan has been acquitted of all charges in all cases, but recently Rajasthan challenged his acquittal in the Chinkara poaching case. It remains to be seen if and when Salman Khan will come to his bodyguard’s rescue. Shera has also reportedly been booked under the Arms Act, as the said victim claims Shera hit him with the butt of his pistol. Sections 326, 503 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code are the other charges levied against Shera. Watch this space for updates on the case.
