It has been quite an exhilarating week (March 19 – 23) in Bollywood. We saw some amazing news and first looks coming our way. To start with, the week was ruled by Salman Khan and his Race 3 gang as the team revealed one look after the other throughout the week. Starting with Salman’s first look as Sikander, we saw Jacqueline Fernandez’ Jessica avatar, Bobby Deol’s next as Yash, closely followed by Daisy Shah’s Sanjana and last but not the least Saqib Saleem’s Suraj. Next week, we won’t be surprised if the team comes out with a teaser. The film Race 3 is all set for an Eid 2018 (15 June) release and with these posters, it is officially the Race 3 season. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for us in the third franchise of this slick action thriller.
Talking about Jacqueline, while she was in the news for her look from the Remo D’Souza film, she also made headlines after her dance track from Baaghi 2, Ek Do Teen (reprised version) released on line. Comparisons with the original diva Madhuri Dixit who grooved to the number in Tezaab (1988) were inevitable. As of now, the jury is divided but the way the actress and her people (Salman – her Race 3 hero, director Ahmed Khan, Saroj Khan, Baaghi 2 lead stars Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani) have handled the negative comments is really heartening.
Interestingly, Madhuri herself has given Jacqueline’s recreated version thumbs up. On the topic of the veteran leading lady, Madhuri has been roped in to star in Abhishek Verman’s next film, produced by Dharma Productions. The film was supposed to star Sridevi and was waiting to go on floors. Now with the actress’ demise, the role has gone to Madhuri. The news was confirmed by none other than Sri’s daughter Janhvi Kapoor who revealed that the film was close to her mother’s heart and she is glad that Madhuri has agreed to step into her shoes.
While we talk about new projects, we cannot go ahead without mentioning Bang Bang Reloaded. There are reports that the sequel to Bang Bang (2014) is in the works and is has been given the aforementioned titled. We also hear that the original lead stars – Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif will be part of the second outing of the action comedy as well.
Meanwhile, the moment we all had been waiting for is finally here. Bollywood actress and global icon Priyanka Chopra is back in Mumbai for good. There are reports that the Quantico 3 star will soon announce her comeback Hindi film. While there are speculations that she might choose between Kalpana Chawla biopic and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Amrita Pritam – Sahir Ludhianvi’s epic love story. However, through an Instagram post, the diva had revealed to us that she has a lot of scripts offered to her and that she will be reading through all of them and making a decision soon. “Which one will it be?.” PeeCee had posted, only making our wait for an official confirmation from her all the more difficult.
There was something else as well which caught our attention this week and made us eager to learn more. Aamir Khan is reportedly all set to unite with Mukesh Ambani for his mega budget, mega hero ambitious magnum opus – ‘Maharabharata’. Reports suggests that the film will have around three to five installments, helmed by multiple directors and on the lines of ‘Lord of the Rings’ and ‘Game of Thrones’. Another great news that came our way was about Ranveer Singh – Rohit Shetty’s Simmba. The project has finally found its leading lady in Sara Ali Khan. India.com had exclusively revealed to its readers about this development last month and it has finally been confirmed. Rohit, Karan Johar, Dharma Productions and Ranveer all took to social media to give us this awesome news. And with this, Simmba also got a release date as December 28. While Sara’s initial Bollywood debut film Kedarnath has been announced for December 21, just as India.com had informed readers, it is now highly unlikely.
And now, for Ranveer’s other leading lady from Gully Boy – Alia Bhatt. The actress had been shooting in Bulgaria for Brahmastra with Ranbir Kapoor where she suffered a ligament tear and has been advised complete rest for at least 15 days. India.com had exclusively informed readers that the crew was supposed to wrap up the first major schedule by March 24-25 and return to Mumbai and decide on cutting it short or extending it depending on the weather conditions in the snow-clad Sofia. Now, with Alia’s injury, the crew might just return and start work on their Mumbai schedule before heading to Tel Aviv for the next one.
In the cinemas this week, Ajay Devgn’s Raid has been doing tremendous business and earned Rs 63.05 core (India business) till Thursday. It is the second highest week one grosser of 2018, after Padmaavat and the numbers of the second weekend will be crucial to determine it’s lifetime earnings. However, it will have competition from Rani Mukerji’s Hichki which has opened to great reviews from audience and film critics.
