Actor Sanjay Dutt is finally a free man now. The actor was released from Pune’s Yerwada jail on the morning of February 25 around 7 am. The Mumnna Bhai MBBS actor served the jail sentence for a term of five years in connection with the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case for illegal possession of arms (AK-56 rifles).
Sanjay had already served one-and-a-half years in prison in the nineties, and surrendered before the TADA Court in May 2013 after the Supreme Court of India upheld his conviction in the case. He served his remaining sentence at the Yerwada Central Jail in Pune, but was out on furlough and parole several times before his final release on February 25. Since the actor has now served his term fully, he now wants to focus on reinventing himself in Bollywood. Talking about his forthcoming movies, Dutt will be seen in third instalment of Munnabhai and also in Prabhu Deva’s next. It is also learnt that director Umesh Shukla, the man behind OMG- Oh My God! had approached Sanjay with an idea for a film when he was out on parole, which the actor had liked and readily agreed to be a part of. “I will meet him at his convenience to narrate the script. He has just come out, he needs to spend time with his family after what he has gone through,” says the director.
Just as filmmkers are waiting with baited breath for Sanju baba to start working on his projects so are his fans. We are equally thrilled to see him on the big screen. Yes, Sanjay does have his plate full right now, but it is crucial for him to choose which film he decides to make a comeback with. With so many new actors trying to make a mark in the film industry, we wonder if the Khalnayak actor will be able to sustain the same position in Bollywood.
