Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has made a huge contribution of one crore rupees for the people affected in the Chennai floods. The confirmation letter of the donation made by Shah Rukh is circulated by the fans of Diwale actor. The hash tag #SRKDonates1crToChennai soon started trending on Twitter hailing the efforts of SRK. Shah Rukh had earlier expressed his heartfelt message on the social media about the people affected in rain-hit areas of Chennai.
Ever since Chennai was hit by the worst rainfall leading to disruption of daily lives, celebrities have joined hands to make significant contribution. On one hand if the names of southern stars like Rana Daggubati, Dhanush, Allari Naresh and Siddharth were hailed on the social media; there was noticeable amount of hate messages shared about Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan for not helping the Chennai floods victims. But looks like the 50-year-old continued to believe in doing the charity away from the public glare and help the affected people in Chennai rains. There are also reports of Shah Rukh Khan going ahead with donating the first day collection of his upcoming movie Diwale releasing on December 18, 2015. So far there is no confirmation over the same but popular Tamil magazine Cinemavikatan reveals of the plans Shah Rukh has about helping the people in Chennai.
Shah Rukh who is also known as Badshah of generosity was recently received an honorary doctorate from the University of Edinburgh for his philanthropic work. Apart from his greater reach as an actor, the university honoured him for his outstanding record of philanthropy, altruism and humanitarianism. The popular faces from the southern cinema industry Daggubati, Dhanush, Nani, singer Chinmayi Sripada, Naresh, Allu Arjun and Siddharth have reached out to people with food, medicine, blankets and other necessary amenities and they have also appealed to their fans to join in the drive.
Daggubati is also carrying out a fund raising campaign through his family-owned Ramanaidu Charitable Trust. Bollywood celebrities like Jacqueline Fernandez, Kalki Koechlin, Boman Irani and Abhishek Bachchan are also supporting Rana’s initiative and urging their Twitter followers to donate for the needy through Rana Daggubati’s trust.
