For all those who haven’t watched the Tamil film Vikram Vedha, let us tell you that it’s one of the best thrillers to have released this year. With celebrated stars like R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead, the film seemed like the contemporary version of the Bikram Betaal story. Thr film ruled the Box Office this year and was highly appreciated by the critics and audiences at large. Given the film was so widely appreciated, we expected India’s regional film industries and Bollywood to take up the remake rights of the movie.
Now, the latest buzz going around is that Shah Rukh Khan has bagged the remake rights of the Tamil film, where he is expected to play one of the lead actors. Incidentally, it was SRK who had unveiled the trailer of the original film from his Twitter handle. Furthermore, if reports are to be believed, he will start shooting for the film as soon as he wraps up the Anand L Rai dwarf film with Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif. Until now, information about the rest of the cast and crew members, including the filmmaker is not revealed. However, according to Behindwoods, which is the production company that owns the rights of the Tamil film Vikram Vedha, they haven’t sold the rights to anyone yet. Y Not Studios, a Chennai based production company owned by S Sashikanth that have made Saala Khadoos and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan in Bollywood , gave out an official statement that read, “We have not sold the remake rights of Vikram Vedha in any language. We have plans of producing it ourselves. Official announcement soon. Tx”. However, if you’ve noticed, they didn’t deny Shah Rukh’s involvement in the remake, so we can still hope that he may co-produce the Bollywood remake with them. Given SRK’s last outing, Jab Harry Met Sejal was a dud at the Box Office, he really needs a hit to help him bounce back and we’re sure the Vikram Vedha Bollywood remake will help him achieve that. Let’s wait and watch..
