Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor breathed his last at Kolkilaben Ambani Hospital yesterday around 5.20 pm. The 79-year-old actor passed away after a prolonged illness. Kapoor was recently taken to the hospital for chest infection. Though the actor was unwell for a few hours, his sudden death has come as a huge shock to his family and industry colleagues. Last evening, after the news of his death broke, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Kajol, Rani Mukerji were seen outside the Kapoor house while Ranbir Kapoor was spotted outside the hospital.

The last rites of the actor will happen soon at the Santacruz Cemetry. The family was waiting for Shashi Kapoor’s children – Sanjana Kapoor and Kunal Kapoor to return from the US to be there for his funeral. As soon as they arrived in the city, the veteran actor’s body was brought to the Kapoor home from the hospital for his last rites. Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor were spotted outside the house sometime ago. Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Salim Khan were spotted at the Santacruz cemetery for Shashi Kapoor’s funeral. Ranbir was spotted with daddy Rishi and the two looked really emotional as Shashi Kapoor’s last rites began. Take a look the pictures below:

Last night, Big B wrote an emotional tribute for the late actor. The two had worked in numerous films like Deewar, Silsila, Namak Halal, Kabhie Kabhie amongst many others. Bachchan in his post recalled his first meeting with Kapoor and how the late actor, how his health deteriorated after his wife Jennifer passed away. The megastar signed off the post saying, “He fondly addressed me as ‘babbua’ .. and with him have gone many incredible unread chapters of his and my life…”
