Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar starrer film, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, released on September 1. The movie is a remake of 2013 Tamil film Kalyana Samayal Sadham.  Before its release the film made lot of noise over erectile dysfunction – without really saying it and garnered everyone’s attention. However, the film opened slow at the Box Office on Friday with the occupancy rate being just about 10 per cent. However, it is likely to see an upward trend over the weekend and in the days to come due to the positive word-of-mouth and reviews. In India, it reportedly opened across 1400 screens. The actors have collaborated for the second time after Sharat Katariya’s Dum Laga Ke Haisha, which was much appreciated and loved.

The film earned Rs 2.71 crores on its opening day. Trade analyst, Taran Adarsh, tweeted, ““#ShubhMangalSaavdhan Fri ₹ 2.71 cr. India biz… Biz should witness an upward trend on Sat and Sun.”

The movie has been garnering mixed reviews from all quarters. India. com reviewed the film and gave it a 2.5/5 rating stating, “It is an arousing foreplay that doesn’t give you the climax you hoped for but leaves you with a happy ending.” Taran Adarsh tweeted about the film, ““#OneWordReview…#ShubhMangalSaavdhan: Average.Rating: 2.5/5 stars. Entertaining first half. Routine second hour. Weak climax… #SMS.” Film critic Shubhra Gupta said,”Of course, director R Prasanna (who also directed the Tamil version) plays it for laughs. It’s that kind of film. That’s the only way we can watch just how erectile dysfunction can ruin relationships: otherwise it would turn into an anatomy lesson. And the characters surrounding our sad-sack lovers, Mudit’s mother and father, and Sugu’s parents and younger brother, plus sundry uncles and aunts and best friends, are all part of the ha-ha-hee-hee brigade.”

With Ajay Devgn-Emraan Hashmi’s Baadshaho releasing on the same date and doing much better on the opening day than Shubh Mangala Saavdhan, it remains to be seen if the film will do well at the Box Office in the days to come.
