Filmmaker Luv Ranjan, who has directed films like Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety, was accused of sexual harassment by an actress. The director denied allegations stating that he is not the man that he is being portrayed but apologised anyway. Now, actress Nushrat Bharucha, who has worked with Luv in many movies, wrote an open letter in his support.

She revealed that one of her reasons for working with the director is that she feels safe, respected and cared for. Nushrat stated that when she came to know about these allegations, she wanted to tell everybody the instances when Luv supported girls but he stopped her from doing so. However, she couldn’t wait, so she wrote this open letter.

She wrote, “When I heard these allegations yesterday, I really just wanted to get up there and start telling everyone about the various incidents that have happened on our sets and how Luv Sir has always stood up for us girls, each and every time when no one else would. But he told me not to. He said it was his fight to fight and he did not want me or anyone else to fight it for him. But I cannot stop myself or wait anymore. I want to say it for how it was and how it has always been, because the Luv Ranjan that I know, is an opposite to the personality that is being painted recently.”

Earlier, an actress revealed to the leading tabloid, Mid-Day, “It was 2010. I was 24, and had done two small roles in big movies opposite well-known actors, and was in the auditioning phase. I was called by Vicky Sidana, a casting director, who said that the auditions for Pyaar Ka Punchnama were on, and a very short list of girls had been called for them. I trusted him and hence, went for it.

The dress code was a short skirt and a tight top, which was fairly common, and wasn’t a problem with me. There were seven to eight girls there, and the strange part was that they didn’t give us dialogues as they would usually ask you to enact the scene. This was supposedly only a look test.”

Amid these #MeToo allegations, Ajay Devgn, who will be working with the director, in his tweet, stated that he and his company will not stand for any wrong that is being done to any woman.
