Sridevi’s Mom and Kartik Aaryan-Paresh Rawal starrer Guest Iin London hit the theatres this Friday (July 7). But it is the Hollywood film, Spider-Man: Homecoming, which stars Tom Holland as the superhero that managed to win hearts thereby beating the weekend domestic box office collections of both Mom and Guest Iin London. We know that Spider – Man is India’s favourite superhero, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that Marvel’s latest offering in the Spider – Man series outdid the Bollywood films in the opening weekend. Plus the positive word of mouth also played a major role in the amazing box office collections of Spider-Man: Homecoming.
According to trade analyst Ramesh Bala, Spider-Man: Homecoming made $6.5 million in its opening weekend in India, which is equal to Rs 42 crore. And this is quite an impressive number when compared to Mom and Guest Iin London that earned Rs 14.40 crore (in three days) and Rs 4.8 crore (in two days) respectively. Our film critic Smrity Sharma in her 4-star movie review wrote, “TOM HOLLAND! Yes! After Andrew Garfield, who was O…Kay… Spider-Man franchise needed someone as endearing and charming as Holland. The guy had already impressed me in his very little screen time in Captain America: Civil War so nothing much to be surprised here. But Homecoming is all about Peter and Holland, with his exuberance, does a great job at keeping us hooked throughout the film. I have loved Tobey Maguire as the spidey boy, but Holland beats him hands down!”
Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark or Iron Man also makes an appearance in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Tiger Shroff dubbed for the Hindi version of the film.
